Registered Name Mounting Steps
Significance Mounting Steps were once a characteristic feature of towns but few now remain in South Australia. The steps at Auburn are rare. The only other sets known to have survived are two sets at Watervale and steps at Mintaro and Riverton. Along with changing stations and stables, they are amongst the few relics remaining to remind us of the era of horse-drawn public transport.
