Details (Known As) |
Threshing Floor, Cape Gantheaume Conservation Park |
Registered Name |
Threshing Floor, Cape Gantheaume Conservation Park |
Significance |
There have been few threshing floors so far recorded in South Australia and only a handful survive fairly intact. Kangaroo Island was an ideal location for the construction of such distinctive farming artefacts close to both harvest and the sea and it appears that the best such threshing floors have survived there.
This threshing floor is a fine example of its type and of great interest for its continued use in the first thirty years of the twentieth century. It is the most intact of the two stone-paved threshing floors on Kangaroo Island. |
