Significance Built for G Hunt, a draper, the house is significant as an excellent example of the mansions built by wealthy Adelaide businessmen in the latter part of the 19th century during the expansion of the residential suburbs of Adelaide. A 35 roomed mansion of quite distinctive design, the house represents the peak of late 19th century mansion architecture, and is a stylistic transition from the Italianate to Queen Anne styles (HSA, 1/2000).
