Significance Historically this building is significant as the second hotel (1897) built in the Henley Beach area after the Henley Hotel (1878), and important as forming part of the early commercial and recreational focus of Henley Beach. Architecturally, the building is important as a landmark element on the corner of Henley Square. Its original degree of detailing and later additions, such as the verandahs, reflect the importance of the building as part of the commercial centre of a popular seaside resort.
