Significance |
The stallion house of Yoho station was built for William Gerrard, who was the pioneer breeder of blood stock in South Australia. Gerrard owned Yoho station, 6,000 acres of freehold land at Rapid Bay, and in 1861 began the breeding of thoroughbred horses. The stud dispersed in 1880. The stallion house was once described by a visitor as being, 'a palace as compared with the domicile for the men folk'. |
