Registered Name |
Former Cape Jervis Whaling Station, near mouth of Fishery Creek |
Significance |
The Cape Jervis Whaling Station provides evidence of one of the Colony's first export industries, of which little is known or documented. It is one of a very small number of whaling station sites which have been located in South Australia.
The site of the Cape Jervis Whaling Station at Fishery Creek, Cape Jervis, may yield information about the whaling industry, and the living and working conditions of the whalers engaged in this early staple industry. (HSA Assessment Report 5/2001) |
