Registered Name |
Bank - ANZ Bank |
Significance |
This bank was the first to be opened in the Encounter Bay district. Constructed in 1865 for the Bank of South Australia, the two-storey building reflects the establishment of commercial and financial ventures in Victor Harbor which coincided with the extension of the railway from Goolwa and the development of the town as a sea port for the River Murray trade. The single-storey additions have not been dated. (HSA, 10/2000). |
