Deep Creek Bridge [Stone Arch] |
Registered Name |
Deep Creek Bridge |
Significance |
This stone arch bridge is a good example of bridge building technology of the mid-1860s. The use of stone for bridge building was common at the time this bridge was constructed in 1867, stone being more durable than timber and more readily available than iron. This bridge is one of many such bridges built throughout South Australia in the 1860s and is associated with the development of road transport in the Adelaide Hills (HSA, 2/2000). |
