Dry Stone Walling |
Registered Name |
Dry Stone Walling |
Significance |
A fine example of dry-stone walling which is (or was) used extensively in the southern part of Yorke Peninsula last century. Wall construction was commonly undertaken when clearing the land in preparation for cultivating cereal crops. These walls comprise an outer section of large rocks and the centre is filled in with smaller material. This style of construction differs from that of the Mount Lofty Ranges and Eyre Peninsula where surface rock was used, not stone brought to the surface during clearance operations.
