| Significance |
Salt production was an important industry on southern Yorke Peninsula. The Lake Fowler salt works was the most extensive in the district. The site is a representative example of large traditional salt recovery operation and demonstrates the organised exploitation of a bountiful natural resource in a harsh environment.
