Farmhouse ('Fleurieu Farm') |
Registered Name |
Dwelling - Farmhouse 'Fleurieu Farm' |
Significance |
This is one of the oldest dwellings in the district, possibly predating the establishment of Waikerie in 1894. The building is associated with the expansion of farming into the Riverland area in the late 19th century and reflects the changing patterns of rural life and prosperity in the region. The materials used in the construction of the cottage (the earliest portion built by a German settler) demonstrate the adaptability of early settlers in using what was at hand (SHB Assessment Report, 5/1989). |
