Registered Name |
Former Crown Hotel (RSL Clubrooms) |
Significance |
The former Crown Hotel in Mount Barker, built in 1847-48, was constructed in the early years of colonial South Australia. It remains an intact example of a quite substantial 1840s country hotel. The hotel also has had connections to the foundations of local government in the area, as well as links to teaching and medical professions in the township. The Mount Barker Branch of the Returned Services League has been the longest single owner of the building, having owned it since 1946. |
