Significance The 1885 Hawker Dam is of engineering significance because of its nineteenth century design and method of construction which includes a concrete stepped weir spillway and a large expanse of stone-paved overflow. The facility reflects the importance of water resources in the expansion of colonial settlement to remote areas.
