St John's Lutheran Church, Hall and Manse |
Registered Name |
St John's Lutheran Church, Hall and Manse |
Significance |
Since its construction in 1868, St John's Lutheran Church at Tanunda has been central to the community and to the religious history of Australia. The church is of design and architectural merit in the quality of the stonework and pointing, the exterior detailing such as the fine tower-eave brackets, the internal ceiling woodwork and the appointments of furniture and sculpture. The church along with the adjoining 1896 hall and adjacent 1899 manse form a complex of finely designed and well-maintained buildings on the site. |
