DESCRIPTION |
Details (Known As) |
Dwelling ('Hillside House') and Wine Cellars |
Registered Name |
Hillside House and Wine Cellars |
Significance |
The impressive main building is a particularly good example of the vernacular development of the small gravity-fed winery of the late nineteenth century. Established by Samuel Springbett in 1849, Hillside continued as a winery until the late 1920s when the grape crop was sold to larger wineries in the district. The buildings and tanks remaining on the property are still of significant integrity and are in a stable and well-maintained condition. |
