Railway Viaduct over Currency Creek |
Registered Name |
Railway Viaduct |
Significance |
The Currency Creek railway viaduct is a rare and early example of major railway engineering works in South Australia. It was completed in 1867 to carry the horse drawn tramway on the line connecting Strathalbyn with the line from Goolwa to Victor Harbor. The scale and structure of the Currency Creek viaduct was only rivalled by the Sleeps Hill viaducts in the Adelaide Hills which were completed in 1883 and which have since been demolished.
