DESCRIPTION |
Details (Known As) |
Dwelling (former Semaphore Water Tower) |
Registered Name |
Water Tower |
Significance |
The Semaphore Water Tower is significant as one of only two 19th century water towers associated with public water supply that are State Heritage Places, the other being at Port Augusta West. It was constructed to maintain the water pressure on Lefevre Peninsula when the mains, which ran over the Port River on the first Jervois Bridge, were shut off to allow the bridge to open.
