| Significance |
The original Lunatic Asylum mortuary building, complete with intact internal fixtures, and the later laboratory and viewing room extensions, is one of the more intact structures on the site. The location of the mortuary away from the main asylum buildings also exemplifies the prevailing attitude to mental health treatment in the late 19th and early 20th century and illustrates one of the various functions required at the Asylum site.
