Significance |
These plantations mark an important aspect in the development of the State's forestry industry. They are remnants of the experimental stage of silviculture, instigated by the Conservator of Forests, J E Brown, which preceded the operations of the timber industry in South Australia as it is known today.
The plantation of mixed Eucalyptus is the second to be planted in the Adelaide Hills, after the plantations at Belair. The stands of Eucalyptus sideroxylon are also among the oldest silvicultural plantations in the Adelaide Hills. (HSA Assessment Report 1999)
