Details (Known As) Stone Walls, Yatala Labour Prison
Registered Name Stone Prison Walls
Significance The original stone boundary walls at Yatala Labour Prison are an integral part of South Australia's first labour prison. The walls were designed primarily to keep prisoners confined but also served to hide from public view convicts serving the sentences of hard labour which had replaced the previous punishment of transportation to other Australian colonies.
