Registered Name Water Supply Structure - Horse Capstan, Pump and Well
Significance The horse capstan, pump and well at Old Mulga Bore, Merty Merty Station were built between 1914 and 1932. They exemplify the importance of water supply in the remote areas of South Australia. In this harsh arid region, these wells provided precious water to drovers with their stock and served as muster camps during periods of drought. (State Heritage Branch file)
