Significance The Main Building at the Waite is historically important as the physical development of Peter Waite's vision for an Agricultural Research Institute. It is significant architecturally as the work of Woods, Bagot, Jory and Laybourne Smith and as one of the few South Australian buildings in the Georgian Revival style. It is enhanced by the stately avenue of Elms in the 'grand vista' landscape manner (Mitcham Heritage Survey, 1995).
