| Details (Known As) |
Tinga Tingana Homestead (Ruin) |
| Registered Name |
Tinga Tingana Homestead Ruins |
| Significance |
Historically, the ruins are significant because they represent the attempts made to occupy the north east of the State for sheep production during the 1870s. Subsequently, the homestead provided an essential stopping point for travellers, camel teams and stock drovers along the Strzelecki Track headed for railing points on the Great Northern Railway. Finally abandoned in the 1920s, the homestead ruins represent the failures experienced by settlers as a result of recurring droughts. (HCB Report 09/08/84) |
