| DESCRIPTION |
| Details (Known As) |
Marryatville High School (former Stables of 'Eden Park' Dwelling) |
| Registered Name |
Domestic Building - Former Eden Park Stables |
| Significance |
These stables were constructed as part of the Eden Park estate for Thomas Roger Scarfe, a partner in the retail firm of Harris Scarfe & Co. The stables are an example of the necessary ancillary buildings for such an estate and were also a major architectural feature, combining functional practicality with typical period detailing. Their size and appearance represent Scarfe's successful interest in breeding show horses. (Adapted from Conservation Plan, Eden Park, Marryatville, 1993). |
