Details (Known As) |
Temple Uniting (former Congregational) Church |
Registered Name |
Temple Uniting Church (former Congregational Church) |
Significance |
The Temple Uniting Church, built in 1922-23, is particularly significant for its octagonal floor plan. Other Congregational churches (and churches generally) built before this or at a similar time are rectangular or extended cruciform in plan. The octagonal form in religious structures in South Australia is relatively rare. In addition the designer of this church, Charles Walter Rutt, was a noted Adelaide architect, responsible for many buildings in and around Adelaide. (HSA 2/1998)
