| Significance |
This updated and enlarged site contains clear exposures of the contacts between the Enorama Diapir and the algal reefs which grew along its shores about 640 million years ago when the Diapir was an island. These relationships demonstrate that the Enorama Diapir had intruded up through the sea floor to be above sea level at that time. This information is of considerable significance to the debate on the origin of the diapirs of the central Flinders Ranges, and, in particular, on their subsequent movements. |
